An assembly is a group of members of an organization that meets periodically to make decisions regarding a specific area or scope of the organization.

Assemblies hold meetings; some are private and others are open. If they are open, you can participate in them (for example: attend if capacity allows, add items to the agenda, or comment on the proposals and decisions made by this body).

Examples: A General Assembly (which meets once a year to define the organization’s main lines of action, as well as its executive bodies through voting), an advisory council on equality (which meets every two months to present proposals on how to improve gender relations within the organization), an evaluation committee (which meets every month to monitor a process), or an oversight body (which collects reports of incidents, abuses, or proposals to improve decision-making procedures) are examples of assemblies.
